HACKENBERG'S THEN & NOW The name Hackenberg is synonymous with automotive repairs in Kempsey since 1928.
The Hackenberg family moved to Kempsey from Austria in 1906. The son Vic started working for Silvia Parrasotto as a motor mechanic in 1928 at the age of 14. After 21 years he bought the business and established Hackenberg's Garage. Hackenberg's Garage in Elbow Street West Kempsey was operated by Vic Hackenberg from 1949 to 1980.
Tony Hackenberg, (Vic's son) started his automotive career in 1975 when he began working for Jack Rodds Motors, the Kempsey Holden Dealership. |
Then in 1986 with his wife Kate Hackenberg, they opened their automotive repairs workshop in South Kempsey, employing apprentice Scott Wells (pictured right).
Hackenberg's Auto Clinic has grown from strength to strength and in 2006 they employ a staff of seven and have moved to their custom built premises on the Pacific Highway in South Kempsey.

AMAZING STORYWhen Tony moved the business to Lachlan Street, an extra phone line was required. The number allocated to the business is 6562 3305.
The first number issued to his father was 305, then when another didgit was required due to the town's growth, the number then became 3305.
Later this number became 62 3305, and then finally 6562 3305. This number was handed in years ago, which has been re-issued to Hackenberg's Auto Clinic. With such family history with this phone number, what an amazing coincidence after all these years! | | | Before the complex was built | Re-inforcing for concreting | The concrete being laid |
